Spearfish, S.D. – Four Yellow Jackets recorded double-digit kills in Black Hills State's win over Colorado State University - Pueblo in five sets (25-23, 26-28, 25-15, 18-25, 8-15).
The Yellow Jackets got out to a fast start in the first set, but fell 25-23. BHSU pushed the ThunderWolves in a close fought second set and won the set with clutch play from Caitlin Templeton. The ThuderWolves came back to win the third set. With the game on the line, the Yellow Jackets answered and won a pivotal fourth set 18-25. In the decisive fifth set, the Yellow Jackets used their momentum to propel themselves to victory.
The Yellow Jackets had four players record double-digit kills including Templeton, Amy O'Neill, Kylee Lamb, and Meghan Sipe. Templeton (.500 kill percentage) and O'Neill both had season-highs with 20 and 17 kills, respectively. Lamb recorded 13 kills and Sipe had 10 kills.
On the defensive side, Sipe and Holly Hamlin each had a team-high three blocks. The Yellow Jackets had four players with double-digit digs, including Sipe (19), Kelsey Olson (17), O'Neill (16), and Jenna Jordan (13).
The Yellow Jackets will try and string two wins together as they face off against Western State (2-18, 1-11 RMAC) today. Western State won its first RMAC game on Friday night in straight-sets agianst Chadron State.
