Box Score Denver, Colo. – The Black Hills State men's basketball team lost to RMAC opponent Metro State by a score of 64-90 on Saturday night in Denver, Colo.
The game started off back-and-forth for both teams as neither team was able to pull away from the other. The first half was highlighted by six lead changes and five times that the score was tied. The Jackets were led by Tanner Adler's 16 first half points. They also saw important contributions from Cameron Anderson, who scored eight in the first period, and Joey Mitchell who scored six on two of four shooting from behind the three-point arch. The Jackets went into halftime trailing by one point, 41-42.
The Jacket's offense stalled in the second half, with the team shooting just over 30 percent from the field in the period. The Roadrunners shot 54 percent in the second half. Metro State pulled away from Black Hills State and the Jackets could not close the gap, resulting in the loss, 64-90.
For the game, the Jackets were led by Adler's 24 points on 7 of 13 shooting from the field. He also led the team in rebounds with seven. Mitchell contributed with 11 points and Anderson scored nine. Sophomore guard Brody Brisk scored nine off the bench for the Jackets.
The loss dropped the Yellow Jackets to 2-7 overall and 1-4 in the RMAC conference. Metro State improved to 8-0 on the year and 4-0 in the RMAC.
The Jackets compete again today as they travel to Regis University in Denver, Colo. to take on the Rangers at 5:00 p.m.
