Box Score Denver, Colo. – The Black Hills State University men's basketball team defeated the Regis University Rangers 69-67 on Sunday night in Denver, Colo.
In the first half, Black Hills State was sparked by Brady Bisgaard, Austin Maag, and Tanner Adler who all scored six points for the Jackets. Going into the break, the Jackets were tied with the Rangers at 31 apiece.
In the second half, the Jackets were led by Bisgaard and Cameron Anderson, who both scored nine, as well as Brody Brisk and Joey Mitchell who contributed seven points each in the period.
The Yellow Jackets approached the second half on a mission. After a back-and-forward second half, Black Hills State walked away with the victory on a Brody Brisk three-point basket that put the Jackets up by two points with just four seconds left to play. This eventually became the winning basket for the Jackets.
"I'm very proud of our guys tonight," said head coach Bradd Schafer. "We got down by 10 points tonight late in the game, but our sense of urgency really pulled us together. We were able to get some turnovers and come away with the win."
Coach Schafer pointed to the momentum the Jackets had going into the holiday break.
"This shows what we are as a team," said Schafer. "We have to continue to extend on what we've built so far when we get back."
The win brings the Jackets' record to 3-7 on the year and 2-4 in the RMAC. The next contests for Black Hills State will be on January 4th and 5th when the Jackets take on Adams State and Fort Lewis College in Spearfish, S.D.
