Box Score Spearfish, S.D. – The Black Hills State University women's basketball team defeated Minot State by a score of 68-57 to improve to 10-11 on the season, behind a strong shooting performance by the Yellow Jackets. The women finished the game shooting 56% from the floor.
"I thought we did a nice job staying the course and we didn't get rattled when we were down," said Head Coach Mark Nore. "The girls made quality passes and good decisions, and put together a great second half. We played our best 30 minutes of basketball of the year, but we still have a lot of work to do.
The Yellow Jackets had three players score double digit points led by sophomore Jordan Kent who finished the game with 15 points and eight rebounds. Kent could not be stopped; she went 4-of-4 from the floor, 1-of-1 from behind the arc and 6-of-6 from the charity stripe. The freshman tandem of Chelsey Biegler and Dakota Barrie added 14 points and 13 points respectively.
Black Hills State was trailing Minot State 32-34 at the break, before an offensive explosion in the second half where they shot 67% from the floor and made 50% of their shots from behind the arc. The Yellow Jackets outscored the Beavers 36-23 in the second frame to earn the 68-57 victory.
