Black Hills State University Men's Basketball Comes Up Short Against Sioux Falls

Spearfish, S.D. – The Black Hills State University men's basketball team's was defeated by the University of Sioux Falls Cougars, Saturday night by a score of 58-73.

The Yellow Jackets were down by 11 going into the break by a score or 25-36. Black Hills State struggled shooting the ball, going 36% from the floor in the first half and 31% from the floor in the second.  Black Hills State finished 33% from both the floor and behind the arc for the game.

"I thought we let the physicality of the game get to us in the first half," said Head Coach Bradd Schafer. "We were able to come back in the second half to get within four with 5 minutes to play, but Sioux Falls made the plays to get it done down the stretch.  I'm proud that our guys fought back after being down 11 at half time and put together a strong second half."

Junior Tommy Earl led the Yellow Jacket charge with 16 points and 6 rebounds.  Senior Rob Johnson and Freshman Brody Brisk followed with 12 points each.  Johnson was perfect from the line, going 8 for 8.  Sophomore Cameron Anderson pulled down 5 rebounds and had 3 steals.

The Yellow Jackets will return to action, Wednesday, February 15, hosting rival S.D. Mines at 7:30 p.m. MT at the Donald E. Young Center in Spearfish.
