Box Score 2 Pueblo, Colo. – The Black Hills State University softball team returned to the softball diamond for the second day of the RMAC/NSIC Crossover tournament in Pueblo, Colo. In their first match-up of the day, Black Hills State fell to University of Colorado-Colorado Springs by a score of 1-13 in five innings. The Yellow Jackets then squared off against Nebraska-Kearney and lost by a score of 1-16, again in five innings.
The first match-up of the day pitted Black Hills State against the Cougars of UCCS. The Yellow Jackets were unable to find an offensive rhythm as they recorded just one run on one hit and committed one error. Junior pitcher Alex Huntington was tagged with the loss. Huntington pitched 3.2 innings and gave up 11 earned runs on 11 hits along with four strikeouts. Junior Nikki Chacon pitched 1 inning and gave up one run on two hits. Sophomore Kelsie Chambers recorded Black Hills States lone run.
Black Hills State fell to Nebraska-Kearney in their second match-up of the day by a score of 1-16 in five innings. The Yellow Jackets scored one run on three hits and recorded two errors. Nikki Chacon was on the mound for three innings for Black Hills State and gave up 10 runs on eight hits. Katie Wagner also pitched an inning for the Yellow Jackets, allowing six runs on five hits. Wagner recorded the Black Hills State's only run and finished the contest with one hit. Juniors Alex Huntington and Kyley Barela each recorded one hit on the afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets will play their final game of the RMAC/NSIC Tournament on Sunday, February 19 as they face Adams State. The first pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. MT.
