Box Score 2 Farmington, N.M. – The Black Hills State University softball team traveled to Farmington, New Mexico to square off against Fort Lewis College in their first Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) games. The Yellow Jackets fell to the Skyhawks by scores of 9-3 and 6-4.
The Yellow Jackets saw senior pitcher Katie Wagner on the mound. Wagner went 5.1 innings and gave up nine runs (four earned runs) on 10 hits. Black Hills State was led offensively by junior centerfielder Allie Alverson who finished the game with two hits, two runs, and two RBIs in three appearances at the plate. Alverson also recorded two put-outs
Black Hills State returned to the diamond for a second contest and again fell short to Fort Lewis College by a score of 6-4. In the final game of the day, junior pitcher Alex Huntington took the mound for all six innings for the Yellow Jackets. Huntington gave up six runs on nine hits. The Yellow Jackets had four players record an RBI in the game, led by junior Meagan Halverson who finished the game with one run and one RBI on two hits in three at bats.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action Sunday, February 26 as they take on Fort Lewis College in Farmington, N.M. game times are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon.
