Oceanside, Calif. – The Black Hills State University men's basketball team played their final game of the 2011-2012 regular season, Saturday evening as they fell to Cal State San Marcos 81-73. The Yellow Jackets were led by senior Rob Johnson who netted 20 points.
The Yellow Jacket offense struggled to get their shots to fall as they shot just 32% from the floor, 30% from behind the arc and 77% from the charity stripe. Black Hills State trailed Cal State San Marcos 35-37 going into halftime, and the Yellow Jackets were outscored 38-44 in the second half to fall 81-73 to the Cougars. Defensively Black Hills State held Cal State San Marcos to just 29% from behind the arc in the contest and recorded eight steals on 15 Cougar turnovers.
Black Hills State was led by senior Rob Johnson who finished the contest with 20 points, eight rebounds and three assists while shooting 50% from behind the three point line. Sophomore Cameron Anderson finished with a double-double scoring 10 points and hauling in 13 rebounds. Freshman Joey Mitchell was the third Yellow Jacket to net double digit points; Mitchell finished the contest with 12 points and five rebounds.
Black Hills State University is hosting the NCAA Transitional Tournament, presented by Holiday Inn and Lucky's 13, March 1 through March 3. The Yellow Jackets will play their first game of the tournament Friday, March 2 at 7:30 p.m. Single game tournament tickets and tournament passes are now available at the Donald E.
