Denver, Colo. - The Black Hills State University men's basketball team collided with Johnson & Wales University at the Wildcat Center in Denver, Colo. on Friday February 3. The Yellow Jackets came up short in the loss by a final score of 77-79.
The Yellow Jackets fell behind in the first half shooting only 37% (11-29) as compared to JWU's 50% (15-30). Black Hills State was unable to find an answer for Corey Puckett as he found his stride on his home court scoring 26 points for the Wildcats. The Yellow Jackets outscored their opponent in the second half 45-39 but were unable to overcome the home team by the final whistle.
Black Hills State was led by senior Rob Johnson who scored 16 points. Johnson also pulled down a team high eight rebounds to go alongside two blocks. The Yellow Jackets also had three players add 11 points in newcomer Kevin Hanes, Brady Bisgaard, and Tommy Earl.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action Saturday, February 4 as they square off against Northern New Mexico Eagles in again at the Wildcat Center. Tip-off is slated for 1:00 p.m. MT and can be heard locally on 980 AM KDSJ and world-wide at KDSJ980.com.
