Denver, Colo. - The Black Hills State University men's basketball team met up with Northern New Mexico for the second consecutive weekend. The Yellow Jackets were able to keep the Eagles winless on the season as they coasted to an 82-69 win, to advance to 8-12 on the season.
"It was a great weekend for our team," said Head Coach Bradd Shafer. "Anytime that you can hold your opponent to 34% from the floor, and have five guys score double digit points you put yourself in a good position to win the game."
The Yellow Jackets took a 17 point lead into intermission leading the Eagles 34-17 after the first frame. Black Hills State shot 44% from the floor, 31% from behind the arc and 67% from the free throw line. The Yellow Jackets had five players' net double digit points in the winning effort.
Black Hills State was led offensively by senior Rob Johnson who scored 19 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and two steals. Freshman Joey Mitchell added 13 points, junior Tommy Earl and freshman Brody Brisk each added 12 points and sophomore Kevin Hanes chipped in 10 points.
