Box Score 2 Spearfish, S.D. – The Yellow Jacket women's softball team continued their Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) regular season schedule against Adam's State College this afternoon. The Yellow Jackets split in the second day of double headers with the Grizzlies. The Black Hills State sluggers lost the first game by a score of 1-4 before bouncing back with the 9-3 win in the second game.
Senior pitcher Katie Wagner took the mound for both games and was a vital part of the team's success against the Grizzlies. In the first contest, Wagner pitched seven innings and recorded six strikeouts against 27 batters. Wagner also pitched well in the second contest, earning herself a win from the mound. Wagner finished off the final game of the day with four strikeouts in seven innings pitched.
Black Hills State was led offensively in the second game by sophomore Lenaya Vigil and freshman Cassie Smith who each finished the game with two runs on one hit in four at bats. Junior Allie Alverson also scored one run on two hits in four at bats. The Yellow Jackets finished the contest with nine hits, but committed three errors.
The Yellow Jackets will look to continue their win streak as they meet up with Colorado Mines on March 24 and 25. The first pitch for the Saturday contest is set to be thrown at 12:00 a.m. MT, with the second contest scheduled for 2:00 p.m. MT.
