Box Score Spearfish, S.D. – The Black Hills State University softball team took to the diamond to day in what was scheduled to be double header against Chadron State College, the Yellow Jackets fell to the Eagles in the first game by a score of 4-5 and the second game was cancelled due to field conditions.
The Yellow Jackets held a 4-2 lead going into the sixth inning before they gave up three runs, to go on to fall by a final score of 4-5. Black Hills State was led offensively by junior second baseman Becca Hugley as she recorded one hit and one run on two at-bats. Black Hills State recorded five hits in the contest.
Senior pitcher Katie Wagner went all seven innings for the Yellow Jackets giving up five runs (four earned) on seven hits with seven walks and two strike-outs, bringing Wagner's career strike-out number to 395.
Black Hills State will return to action Saturday, April 21 for their final weekend of conference play as they host Regis (Colo.), the first pitch is scheduled to be thrown at 12 noon at the Black Hills Softball Complex in Spearfish.
