DENVER, Colo. - The Yellow Jacket volleyball team hit the road on Friday night to Denver where the Metro State Roadrunners took the victory in straight sets, 3-0.  The Jackets were led by senior Caitlin Templeton who had a team-high 10 kills on 23 attacks with seven errors.

Metro came out firing in the opening set as they hit an impressive .412 average with a match-high 16 kills and only two errors.  In that set, the Jackets had 11 kills and a .143 hitting average.

The closest the Jackets came to a set win came in the second where they only lost by four points and had their best hitting performance on the evening with 13 kills on 35 attacks and seven errors to finish with a .171 average along with six digs.  The second was the worst for Metro as they hit an average of .182.

The Roadrunners got back on track in the third as they won by the largest margin of the night as they hit .368 as a team.

While Templeton led the way for BHSU, fellow senior hitter and the conference's third-best kill gettter, Amy O'Neill, struggled to get momentum going on the offensive end as she finished with six kills on 25 attacks with eight errors.  Junior Holly Hamlin had four kills and two assisted blocks on the night as junior Meghan Sipe had four more kills and two digs.

Freshman setter, Brynn Eckhardt, had 23 assists on the night with two kills, six digs, and 1.5 blocks.  Junior libero, Kelsey Olson, finished the match with eight digs.

Metro's Kylie Haun led the way with nine kills, five digs, and 1.5 blocks as Alysa Heath had eight kills.  Vasati Flatoa and Lauren Quijano combined for 14 more kills to help the Roadrunners to a consistent .314 kill percentage as a team.

The Yellow Jacket's final game of the 2013 season will come tomorrow night at Regis University (15-11, 11-6 RMAC) at 5 p.m. MT.
