COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The UC-Colorado Springs volleyball team took down the Yellow Jackets on Saturday night in straight sets for a 3-0 victory.  The Black Hills State University volleyball team now moves to 7-19 overall on the year and 3-14 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play.

The Jackets however were close to winning each set as they their largest margin of defeat was just four points in the first set, 25-21.  The second set was the most competitive as it was pushed to a 29-point victory by UCCS as the Jackets finished with 27 points in the set.  Again in the third and final set, BHSU lost only by two, 26-24.

While it was a slow start for the Jackets, the second set provided a match-high hitting average of .469 by the Jackets after 18 kills on 32 attacks with just two errors.

UCCS were the most consistent in the kill department as they topped the Jackets in set two, even though they had a significant lower hitting average, they did finish with 22 kills in set two.  UCCS's lowest kill total on the night was 14 in the third set while the Jackets hit match-low 10 kills in set one.

Senior Amy O'Neill finished with a team-high 14 kills as Holly Hamlin provided additional offensive support as she finished with eight kills on 19 attacks.  Hamlin also led on the defensive end with one solo block and four assisted blocks to keep her ahead in the RMAC in that department.
