PUEBLO, Colo. – The CSU-Pueblo Lady ThunderWolves came out firing on all cylinders in the first half of their match-up versus the Yellow Jackets on Saturday night, taking a 34-19 halftime lead on through the end of the game to take the 16-point victory.
Four-out-of-five CSUP starters finished the game in double-figures with Taylor Fox leading the way in the game after scoring 19 points and pulling down nine rebounds (7-16 FG). Alex Evans scored 14 points, Paige Ramm finished with 11, and Katie Nehf was third on her team with 10 points.
The Yellow Jackets struggled early after shooting 6-of-29 (20.7%) in the first half, before improving to 43.3-percent shooting in the second half (13-30 FG). BHSU finished the night shooting 32.2-percent on 19-of-59 shooting. For the second night in a row, they struggled from 3-point range after going 3-of-18 from beyond the arch.
The most productive Yellow Jacket was starting junior do-it-all guard, Cassidy Kotelman, who finished with 16 points (7-12 FG), seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals on the night.
Senior, Calli Bechtel went 4-of-7 from the field to finish with 10 points and three rebounds as her team's second-leading scorer. Junior Dakota Barrie finished with six points, five assists, three rebounds, two steals and one block.
The ThunderWolves shot 50-percent in the first half and sustained the impressive shooting performance all night after finishing 24-of-50 (48%) as a team.
The next games for BHSU will come on the road for the second consecutive weekend as they travel to play Regis University on Friday, Jan. 31, before heading to take-on Metro State the following day on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014 at 5 p.m.
