Spearfish, S.D. – The Yellow Jacket women's basketball team started the new year off with a win on Friday night in conference play as they defeated the Adams State Grizzlies handily, 82-48.
It was a balanced team effort for the Yellow Jackets, who shot 53% on the night from field goal range, 41% from behind the arc, and 91% from the line. Three Jackets were in double digits for scoring, Taylor Trohkiminen with 14, Dakota Barrie with 12, and Shanna Halalilo with 10. Two others, Chelsea Biegler and Callie Bechtel, were just shy with nine points each.
The Yellow Jackets improve to 6-4 overall and 5-2 in conference play, while the Grizzlies drop to 5-6 overall and 1-5 in the RMAC. The Jackets will look for another win tonight as they take on the Skyhawks of Fort Lewis (7-3, 4-2) at Whalen Gymnasium in Durango, CO. Tip-off is at 5:30 p.m.
