PUEBLO, Colo. – The Black Hills State University football team fell to No. 9 Colorado State University-Pueblo Saturday afternoon in Pueblo, Colorado.
The Thunderwolves (8-1, 6-1 RMAC) opened the scoring with a pair of touchdowns in the first quarter. Chris Bonner hit Daniel Wise for a 57-yard yard touchdown pass and was followed by a three-yard pass to Zach Boyd.
The Yellow Jackets (2-7, 1-6 RMAC) answered back with 3:54 remaining in the first quarter on a Trent Butler two-yard touchdown run. Followed by the Steven Soderstrom PAT, the Yellow Jackets trailed 14-7.
Beginning with a touchdown in the second quarter, CSU-Pueblo scored five-straight touchdowns en route to the 49-7 victory.
Ward Anderson was 13-of-26 for 99 yards as Jerome Krysl had five catches for 63 yards. Phydell Paris had 10 rushes for 67 yards while Butler had 36 yards rushing, including the touchdown.
Bonner was 18-of-21 for 285 yards and four touchdowns while Cameron McDondle had 176 yards rushing on 19 attempts for CSU-Pueblo.
Trent Boner had a game-high 10 tackles while Travis Groves added nine, including two pass breakups and a tackle for loss. Boone Bowker had the lone sack of the day, a loss of six yards for the Thunderwolves.
The Yellow Jackets return to Lyle Hare Stadium for the final time in 2014 with a 1 p.m. contest against New Mexico Highlands University on Saturday.
