FAIRBANKS, Alaska – After leading by as many as 10 points, the Black Hills State University men's basketball team fell 71-67 to the University of West Alabama Saturday night at the GCI Alaska Invitational in Fairbanks, Alaska.

With BHSU holding a 65-55 lead with 3:53 remaining, the Tigers (2-3) closed regulation on a 10-0 run to force overtime. In the extra period, the Yellow Jackets (1-3) could only muster a pair of free throws from Myles Henry as West Alabama prevailed for the 71-67 victory.

The loss deflates a team effort from the Yellow Jackets that saw Henry score 15 points and Yoshio Allen with 10 points. Brady Bisgaard, Brody Brisk and Riley Ryan each scored eight points apiece while the Green and Gold shot 47.1 percent from the field and hit 9-of-20 3-point baskets.

Bisgaard dished a team-best four assists while Ryan had six rebounds. Brisk secured five rebounds, including five on the offensive end.

Lleon Tillman led West Alabama with a double-double of 23 points and 11 rebounds while Kenric McCants tallied 13 points.

Down 21-20 with 4:42 remaining in the first half, Nick Ongarato hit a 3-point basket to give the Yellow Jackets the lead and would keep it entering halftime ahead 30-25.

Black Hills State would continue to play with the lead for the remainder of regulation, with the exception of the 65-65 tie to send the game into overtime.

Saturday's game was the second time this season the Yellow Jackets have played in overtime. In the season opener, BHSU defeated South Dakota Mines 72-67 in overtime.

The Yellow Jackets return home to face Montana Tech on Tuesday in the Young Center. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
