Box Score SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State University men's basketball team rolled to a 70-58 victory over Montana Tech Tuesday night in the Young Center.
After Montana Tech (4-4) made the opening field goal of the game, the Yellow Jackets (2-3) scored the next eight points to pick up the momentum. Brody Brisk hit a jumper followed by a pair of shots in the paint from Myles Henry and Yoshio Allen. The run was accented by a jumper from Riley Ryan in the 8-2 lead.
The Orediggers battled back to within three points at 15-12 with 10:31 remaining in the first half on a pair of free throws from Keegan McCarthy but the Yellow Jackets methodically worked to a seven-point halftime lead at 35-28.
The two squads would battle around the same margin until a 10-0 Yellow Jacket run inflated the lead to 19 points at 57-38 with 10:38 remaining in the game. The run began on a 3-point basket from Ryan Miller followed by a pair of free throws from Brody Brisk.
Wyatt Krogman corralled a defensive rebound and carried the ball coast-to-coast for a layup. The run concluded when Krogman found Brisk for a wide open 3-point basket.
Montana Tech would only be able to cut the lead back down to nine points with 5:09 remaining in the game as the Yellow Jackets defense stiffened en route to the 70-58 victory.
Brisk led the way for the Yellow Jackets with a game-high 16 points as the Green and Gold shot 45.8 percent (22-48) from the field. Riley Ryan and Bisgaard also scored in double-digits with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Bisgaard also had a game-high six assists.
Paul Engrstrom led Montana Tech with 14 points while gathering seven rebounds as the Orediggers shot 43.4 percent (23-52) from the field.
Brisk, Henry and Ryan each had a team-best six rebounds.
The Yellow Jackets continue its three-game homestand with a 7:30 tipoff against Western Colorado State University and former Black Hills State head coach Bradd Schafer.
