SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State University women's basketball team (12-13, 11-10 RMAC) lost on Saturday night to the UC-Colorado Springs Mountain Lions, 63-49, which marked their last regular home game of the season.
The game's top performer was UCCS guard, Abby Kirchoff, who finished with 21 points on 6-of-14 shooting (7-7 FT). She helped her team to 47.1-percent shooting on the evening (24-51 FG), which included shooting 56-percent in first half (14-25 FG).
The Yellow Jackets shot 38-percent in both the first and second halves on way to going 19-of-50 from the field in the game. UCCS used a strong rebound advantage to get second chances throughout the night after grabbing 32 boards to the Jackets' 23.
Outside of Kirchoff, the Mountain Lion's second leading scorer with 11 points was Kellie Krueger who went 5-of-6 shooting with four rebounds.
Junior Courtney Patterson was the Yellow Jackets leading scorer with 12 points (4-4 FT) with three rebounds and two steals. Junior, Chelsey Biegler, went for 11 points on the night on 3-of-5 shooting with two 3-pointers, three rebounds, and two steals.
Seniors Calli Bechtel and Lindsey Fearing combined for seven points and three rebounds. As a team, the Jackets went 7-of-8 from the free-throw line in the game as UCCS went 11-of-14 (78.6-pct).
The Jackets will close the season on Saturday, Mar. 1, as they hit the road to face rival Chadron State College at 5:30 p.m.
