Jackets push UCCS to overtime before losing final home game, 100-88

Box Score

SPEARFISH, S.D. – With just 2.1 seconds remaining with the game - BHSU down by two - Yellow Jacket guard, Riley Ryan, grabbed a rebound off an intentionally missed free-throw by Cameron Anderson to shoot a mid-range jumper on the left side of the baseline over the edge of the backboard to rattle home the game-tying shot as the buzzer sounded, 82-82.

UCCS wasted no time in the overtime period as they scored the first nine points to help them win an 18-6 advantage in the extra five minute period to secure the 12-point victory on Senior Night from the Young Center.

The Mountain Lions and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's leading scorer, Derrick White, hit a game-high 21-of-24 free-throws to help him score 32 total points on the evening, while going 5-of-12 from the floor with six assists, two blocks, and two steals.

Capitalizing from the free-throw line was the UCCS strategy all night long as they finished an impressive 34-of-38 (89.5-pct) from the charity stripe as a team.  UCCS shot 43.1-percent from the floor (28-65 FG) and outrebounded the Jackets 51 to 46.

In his final home game as a Yellow Jacket, senior Tommy Earl, led the way once again with 26 points on 8-of-17 (7-8 FT) shooting with four rebounds and three steals.  Fellow senior, Jullian Holliday, played nine minutes and hit two free-throws and grabbed three rebounds with one assist.

BHSU guard, Myles Henry, was a large part of BHSU's 53-point second half as he went for 17 points (7-19 FG) and five rebounds, which included an athletic one-handed dunk over the Mountain Lion's White in the opening minutes of the second half to spark the crowd the rest of the way.

Senior, Cameron Anderson, finished the night and his career at home for the Jackets with 10 points and six rebounds while going 4-of-6 from the floor, including a clutch free-throw with 2.1 seconds left, prior to Ryan's shot to force overtime. Brady Bisgaard was the distributor for the Jackets as he had a game-high eight assists and nine points to go with three steals.

BHSU (10-15, 8-13 RMAC) took 84 shots on the night and hit 30 field goals to finish at 35.7-percent shooting.  BHSU went 8-of-24 (23.5-pct) from the 3-point line and 20-of-32 from the free-throw line to put them at 62.5-percent for the game.
