Box Score 2 SPEARFISH, S.D. – Dickinson State University wasted no time on the offense end on Monday's doubleheader versus the Yellow Jacket softball team (2-33, 1-25 RMAC) as they defeated the Jackets in game one, 13-0, and again in game two by a score of 8-0.
GAME 1
DSU scored seven runs in the first inning as they attacked the Yellow Jacket pitching for 14 hits in the first game on Monday. Seven DSU players notched an RBI on the day as they went onto hit four homeruns.
Pitching for DSU was Regan Lawrence, who did just as well from the circle as she went all five innings and held the Yellow Jackets to just three hits in the complete game shutout.
The three Jackets that managed to snag a hit on the day were LF Sara Schmid, RF Katherine Drake, and C Erica Everson who went 1-for-1 with one walk. Pitching for BHSU was Stefanie Witman who went 0.2 innings and was charged for six earned runs. Savanah Eckhardt went 3.1 innings and also gave up six earned runs.
GAME 2
In the second game of the afternoon, its was DSU pitcher, Tiffany Morgan, who had the complete game, five-inning shutout while holding the Jackets to six hits. Morgan also had five strikeouts with two walks.
Pitching for the Jackets was sophomore, Kaitlin Farrar, who went 3.1 innings and was charged for eight earned runs on eight hits. Witman went 1.1 innings and walked five DSU batters.
While again held to no runs scored, the Yellow Jacket offense managed to double their hit total for game one as 1B Rebecca Green, C Erica Everson, CF Brook Grant, OF Nia Shumpert, LF Sara Schmid, and 2B Katie Campo all got a hit in the game as Campo also walked twice.
The final weekend of the 2014 season for BHSU will come this weekend, Apr. 26-27, as they head to faceoff versus both Adams State University and Western New Mexico University at WNMU.
