MBB: Trumbauer Wins No. 100 in 62-61 Victory Over Chadron State

Box Score

SPEARFISH, S.D. – Black Hills State University men's basketball coach Jeff Trumbauer picked up his 100th career win as a head coach while the Yellow Jackets snapped a three-game skid in a 62-61 victory over Chadron State College Saturday night.

Four Yellow Jackets (5-11, 3-6 RMAC) scored in double-digits led by Brody Brisk with 14 points as the Green and Gold overcame a seven-point deficit with 9:27 remaining in the game.

Davante McCallam made a jumper to give the Eagles (3-10, 2-7 RMAC) the lead but Brisk answered back with a vengeance as he drove the baseline and threw down a highlight reel dunk. Brisk leapt over McCallam and received an and-one with the made free throw.

Black Hills State then went on an 8-3 run to take a 51-50 lead with 4:40 remaining in the game.

The Yellow Jackets continued to roll, building a 57-52 lead to complete a 17-5 run and looked to be in possession to win the game. BHSU withstood a final Eagles surge including a 3-point basket and a pair of free throws with less than 12 seconds remaining for the 62-61 victory.

Following Brisk's 14 points, Yoshio Allen scored 12 while Myles Henry and Riley Ryan each scored 10 points apiece. Kendrick Holliman scored a game-high 17 points for the Eagles.

Wyatt Krogman had a second-straight solid game with a game-high six assists while adding nine points.

The Yellow Jackets outshot their opponents at a 44.2 percent clip, compared to a 43.4 percent for the Eagles. The Green and Gold dominated within the paint, scoring 40 points within the painted box.

Trumbauer, who is in his first year at the helm of the Yellow Jackets, compiled a 95-83 record while coaching Jamestown College from 2004-2010. While at Jamestown he earned Dakota Athletic Coach of the Year honors with a pair of trips to the NAIA National Tournament and a pair of DAC titles, a regular season championship and a tournament title.

Black Hills State embarks on its longest road trip of the season as it travels to Western New Mexico on Friday for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff followed by a 7 p.m. tip at New Mexico Highlands.
