USA Triathlon Release
CLERMONT, Fla. – The Black Hills State University triathlon team did not have the end of their inaugural season they had hoped for. At the 2015 Women's Collegiate Triathlon National Championship, the Yellow Jackets got lapped out during the bike portion of the race while Queens University of Charlotte won the event with 15 points.
Tess Byrd, Kate Griffin and Shenae LaCroix each represented the Green and Gold at the event, in its second year but first year with NCAA backing. Abby Levene of Colorado won the event in 1:02.39 while Jocelyn Bonney of Queens placed second in 1:04.06. Queens was one of four NCAA Division II institutions at the championship.
The Yellow Jackets conclude their inaugural season after competing in five events, laying the foundation for the NCAA's newest emerging sport. Black Hills State was one of five schools to compete in 2015 with a varsity program while the number will increase in 2016.
