CHADRON, NEB.—The Black Hills State University volleyball team entered game two of their season-ending three-game road stand against Chadron State College on Saturday night. The Yellow Jackets defeated the Eagles in a 3-2 thriller at the Young Center on October 9.
BHSU was looking to avoid a five-game losing streak against the Eagles, who defeated South Dakota Mines 3-0 last night. The Eagles evened the season series with a 3-0 win over the Yellow Jackets on Saturday night.
The Yellow Jackets' record drops to 7-18, 4-13 RMAC while Chadron State improves to 9-16, 8-9 RMAC.

Six Eagle attack errors propelled the Yellow Jackets to an 8-1 cushion to open set one. BHSU sat in the driver's seat throughout the majority of set one, but Chadron slowly narrowed the margin.
Chadron State rebounded from their early errors, and Gaby Varela played a significant role in that with five kills to help tie the set 20-20.  BHSU regained a brief 21-20 lead before a Rudy Leausau kill, and a BHSU attack error gave the Eagles their first lead of the set at 22-21.
BHSU and Chadron were tied on two occasions (22-22, 23-23) before Varela registered two kills to give the Eagles a 25-23 win in set one.
The Yellow Jackets couldn't rebound in a 25-11 set-two loss.
Set three saw BHSU take a brief 3-2 lead off an Eagle attack error, but it didn't result in momentum. Torpey and Mayer each registered three kills in set three, but it wasn't enough in a 25-19 loss.
Torpey led BHSU with eight kills while Mayer and Cassidy Steele each added seven. Saturday night was Steele's second game back in the BHSU lineup after sitting the previous four games with an injury.
The Yellow Jackets will cap off the 2015 season at South Dakota Mines on Thursday, November 12. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
