Tri: Yellow Jackets claim Two Top-10 Finishes in Region Championship

PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wisc. – The Black Hills State University triathlon team competed against collegiate competition for the first time in its existence with Tess Byrd leading the way at the Collegiate Region Championship in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin.

Byrd placed seventh overall in 1:13:50.0. She had a time of 14:55 in the swim, 36:21 in the bike and 21:48 during the running phase.

In 10th place was Kate Griffin, closing out the course in 1:15:17.6. She timed finished the swim in 14:59, the 20K bike in 36:18 and the running portion in 23:15.

In 12th place was Katie Christy in an overall time of 1:19:28.1. She timed in at 16:12 in the 750-meter swim in 16:12, the bike in 38:07 and the run in 24:02.

The final Yellow Jacket finisher was Shenae LaCroix in a time of 1:20:11.2, good enough for 13th place. She had the fastest swim of the day for BHSU in 14:07. She also timed in at 40:11 in the bike portion and timed in at 25:07 in the 5K run.

The Yellow Jackets are scheduled to compete at the Heber Springs Sprint Triathlon in Hever Springs, Arkansas, on October 11.
