BILLINGS, Mont. – The Black Hills State University women's basketball team fell Friday night to Cal Poly Pomona, 69-48.
Black Hills State started trailing 11-3 in the early minutes of the first quarter and just never got out of the slump. The Yellow Jackets trailed by 12 at halftime and could not find their momentum. Black Hills State shot 39.7 percent (23-of-58) from the field and 66.7 percent (12-of-18) from the line. Cal Poly Pomona countered with 37.5 percent (15-of-40) from the field.
Sierra Toms led the way for the Yellow Jackets scoring 14 points while
Cheyanne Balster had nine points.
Taylor Trohkimoinen,
Rachel Erickson and
Keely Bertram each scored six points apiece.
Balster,
Kassidy Scott and Bertram all had six rebounds defensively for the Yellow Jackets.
The Yellow Jackets fall to 0-2 on the season while Cal Poly Pomona increases to 2-1 overall.
The Green and Gold play again tomorrow afternoon against Northern State with tipoff set for 3 p.m. The game will have live video and stats feeds so Yellow Jacket fans can keep up with the team.
