DENVER, Colo. – The Black Hills State University volleyball team fell 3-0 Friday night against the Regis Rangers.
The Rangers took all three sets and they went as follows: 25-18, 25-19 and 25-17.
Trailing 1-0 in the match, the Yellow Jackets led the second set until 12-all when the Rangers with a kill by Diamond Ridley-Pierce. Regis kept the lead until 17-all when
Tara Hall and
Fehrin Ward block a kill attempt by Ridley-Pierce. The Rangers stopped the Yellow Jackets momentum from there to end the set at 25-19.
In the third set, Black Hills State was trying to gain some momentum as they held the lead until 6-all. From there, both teams traded off points until 9-all when Regis took the lead by one with a kill by Maggie Steward and continued to increase that lead to win the set at 25-17 and the match, 3-0.
Brynn Eckhardt led the way on offense with 21 assists. Alongside Eckhardt,
Sierra Stugelmeyer smacked down six kills while
Ellise Lech and
Cheyenne Palu each had five.
On defense,
Lacy Stevens registered 12 digs while Eckhardt had nine. Palu had four blocks while Ward two.
The Yellow Jackets fall to 6-17 overall and 4-11 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action while the Rangers improve to 15-10 overall and 10-6 in RMAC play.
Black Hills State moves on to play Chadron State on Saturday with first serve at 6 p.m.
