THE GAME - Colorado Mines
- The two teams meet for the eighth time on the hardwood on Friday with a tipoff scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Black Hills State leads in the all-time series, 4-3.
- Senior Laura Tyree is the top returner for the Orediggers. Tyree was selected to the Preseason All-RMAC team. The Lakewood, Colorado native averaged 11 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3 assists per game last season. Tyree was selected to the First Team All-RMAC in the postseason last year.
- The Orediggers are slated to finish second overall in the conference after finishing 19-3 in the conference and 21-7 overall. Colorado Mines currently ranks fifth.
THE GAME - Colorado Christian
- Black Hills State and Colorado Christian meet on the hardwood for the 10th time on Saturday with a 5 p.m. tipoff. The Yellow Jackets lead the all-time series, 5-4.
- Colorado Christian is slated to finish seventh in the conference this year after coming off a 23-10 overall and 15-7 in conference finish last season.
- Claire Paxton is the top returner for the Cougars. Paxton averaged 10.4 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. Claire was selected for the Preseason All-RMAC team.
THE COACHES
- Black Hills State University head coach Mark Nore owns a 253-163 record over 15 seasons with the Yellow Jackets. He is the all-time wins' leader for Yellow Jacket basketball.
- Brittany Simpson enters her fifth season as the Orediggers head coach. Simpson led Mines to an RMAC Championship and won last season. She made program history last season with her 21-7 overall, 19-3 conference record and scored RMAC Coach of the Year Honors last season.
- Corey Laster has 16 years of coaching experience. From 2010-14, Laster coached at UCCS so his experience in the RMAC will be a valuable assest to Colorado Christian. Prior to the RMAC, Laster was an assistant coach at Bucknell University. Laster was inducted into the Taylor University Hall of Fame in 2010 and is one of the all-time leading scorers and rebounders at TU.
SLOW START
The Yellow Jackets have experienced a slump for their first time in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action. This is the first time in program history since joining the RMAC in 2012-13 that Black Hills State has started 0-2.
SCOTT HAS A CAREER-SETTING GAME
Kassidy Scott scored a career-high 17 points making a valiant effort to come back againt MSU Denver. Scott also went 3-for-3 from the three-point range, 5-for-9 from the field and 4-for-4 from the line.
TRUE FRESHMAN
Cortez Standing Bear scored her first set of collegiate points against UCCS. She scored four points and went 2-for-3 from the field and had two assists in 19 minutes of action.
Abby Switzer scored her first set of collegiate points against Minnesota State Mankato on November 25 and saw nine minutes of action in her second collegiate game. Joining Switzer,
Gabby Doxtator saw her first minutes of action as well against Minnesota State.
