Box Score MOORHEAD, Minn. – Black Hills State University dropped a close game Saturday afternoon to Minnesota State University-Moorhead 2-1.
The Yellow Jackets played a tough match to keep the game close. The first goal did not come until the 56th minute when Katie Nielson made history for Black Hills State by scoring the first goal ever for the Yellow Jackets and a 1-0 lead.
MSUM Dragons responded with a goal in the 75th minute by Jessica Johnson tying the game 1-1.
MSUM scored the go-ahead goal at the 82nd minute when Annika Greaney made it 2-1.
The Yellow Jackets fall to 0-2-0 while MSUM improves to 1-1-0 on the season.
Black Hills State tallied 18 shots on the day, with 11 landing on frame. Nielson totaled four of those shots and two of them on goal. Rose Miller Also had four shots for the Green and Gold as Jessica Ryan, Lauren Cornwall and Emily Keller each accounted for two shots each.
Therese Wilhelmi got her second-straight start in goal for BHSU grabbing six saves. MSU Moorhead split goalkeeper duties between Corina Edgington and Kennedy Rodgers as they combined for 10 saves.
Black Hills State plays its third, and final, match of the roadtrip at Northern State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
