ST. GEORGE, Utah – The Black Hills State University volleyball team fell in four sets on Saturday morning against Northwest Nazarene.
The Yellow Jackets took set one 25-22 then lost the next three 25-22, 25-21 and 25-13, losing the match 3-1.
The Yellow Jackets started the morning out strong in set one winning 25-22. The Yellow Jackets kept the lead the whole way. It got up to a 4-point difference, 14-10. NNU took the lead toward the end of the match, 21-19. The Yellow Jackets responded with six straight points to claim the victory 25-21.
The Yellow Jackets were unable to pull out the victory in the next three sets. Lacy Stevens recorded 26 digs and two aces for the Yellow Jackets while Brynn Eckhardt led the Green and Gold with 33 assists.
"We played at a consistently high level today, we battled against a very talented Northwest Nazarene team," coach Kristin Carmichael said about the match. "We blocked and passed well and we were mixing the temp on offense effectively. We learned a lot about our team and got better with each match this weekend."
Black Hills State falls to 0-3 on the season as they closed out the Crystal Inn Invitational.
Black Hills State goes on to play at the New Victorian Inn and Suites/Runza Fall Classic starting Friday, September 9 at 10 a.m. against Newman.
