SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State University volleyball team travels to Salt Lake City, Utah, to compete against Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opponent Westminster on Saturday, October 14. First serve is slated for 4 p.m.
This is the third meeting between the two teams since Westminister joined the RMAC in 2015. The series is tied 1-1. Black Hills State has been an RMAC member since 2012.
Westminster owns a 5-9 record overall, and a 2-4 record in conference action.
On the offense, Audrey Green leads the team with 149 kills with a 3.04 kill per set average. Taylor Gustafson works alongside Green, and has notched 338 assists with a 6.90 per set average.
Defensively, Megan Gallegos has registered 164 digs in 42 sets played. Gallegos averages 3.90 digs per set, good enough to place 10th in the conference. Amara Spere, a 2016 Honorable Mention recipient, leads the team with 26 blocks and a 1.03 per set average.
Black Hills State enters the weekend 7-11 overall, and 4-5 in conference. BHSU grabbed another win Tuesday night, after defeating South Dakota Mines in a sweep, 3-0.
Ellise Lech leads the offense with 166 kills and a 2.27 kill per set average.
Sierra Stugelmeyer and
Kenzie Kazmer are right behind with 158 and 157 kills, respectively.
Laurel Lech works alongside the three of them, as she has tallied 644 assists on the season, with an 8.82 per set average.
On defense,
Sydney Ederhoff has recorded 326 digs and a 4.47 dig per set average in 73 sets played.
Cheyenne Palu has notched 83 blocks with a 1.14 block per set average. Palu leads the conference for total blocks.
Following the weekend, Black Hills State heads to Colorado to face Colorado Mesa and Western State on Friday, October 20, and Saturday, October 21. First serve slated for 7 p.m. both days.
