THE GAME - South Dakota Mines
- South Dakota Mines controlled the first meeting between the two schools on January 17 with a 65-54 Hardrocker victory in the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Ice Arena. Zach McLemore tallied 16 points and Fraser Malcolm 13 for the Yellow Jackets as Konor Kulas totaled a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds for SD Mines.
- Black Hills State is searching for their first win against SD Mines since November 17, 2014, a 72-67 victory in the Young Center. The game was head coach Jeff Trumbauer's first game with the Yellow Jackets and have since dropped four-straight to the rival.
- Reaching further back, dating to the 2011-12 season, BHSU is 2-10 over the last 12 meetings with the Hardrockers.
- South Dakota Mines has lost five-straight games and eight of its last nine heading into Friday's showdown. The Hardrockers fell 95-85 in overtime to UCCS and fell 76-62 to MSU Denver this past weekend.
- Konor Kulas, a Preseason All-RMAC selection, leads the team with 17.2 points and 8.9 rebounds per game. Kulas ranks ninth in the RMAC with his point per game average while sitting second in rebounds. Jamall Taylor ranks second on the team with 10.2 points per contest.
LOOKING AHEAD
With three regular season games remaining, Black Hills State leaves the comfort of the Youg Center for all three by traveling to Colorado Mesa on February 18 followed by trips to Chadron State on February 24 and Regis the following night.
LET'S GET TOGETHER
The Black Hills State basketball teams are hosting a Round Ball Reunion on February 11 when the Yellow Jackets host South Dakota Mines. All basketball alumni are encouraged to attend while the 1946-47 men's team, 1986-87 men's team and 1996-97 men's and women's championship teams are honored.
FEEDING SOUTH DAKOTA THROUGH SAAC
Through the remaining five home games, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is collecting nonperishable food items in a Food War with South Dakota Mines. The two school's SAAC's are competing against each other with the school raising the most amount of weight winning a traveling trophy. The food will all be donated to Feeding South Dakota.
JUMP ON THE BUS

ON A ROLL
Fraser Malcolm has three-straight games of 23 points or more as the sophomore has appeared to have found his groove. The run began with a career-best 25 points against Western State before back-to-back games of 23 points. Including the 17 points against Colorado Mesa, Malcolm has averaged 22 points over his last four games. He owns 19 games of double-digit scoring, a team best.
