SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State University softball team closes out its 2017 season celebrating the seniors at home hosting the University of Colorado Colorado Springs for a four-game series on Saturday, April 29 and Sunday, April 30. First pitch is set for noon and 11 a.m., respectively.
UCCS holds a 15-26 overall and 14-22 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference to sit in 10
th place.
Melissa Martinek owns a .405 batting average. In 51 hits in 126 at-bats, Martinek has registered 29 RBIs and 10 home runs to lead the Mountain Lion offense. Martinek has scored 31 runs as well. Joining Martinek, Rayle Glover ranks second on the team with a .386 batting average. Glover has hit seven home runs on the season and 23 RBIs.
In the circle, Stephanie Chitkowski leads the pitchers with a 5.72 ERA. In 116.1 innings pitched, Chitkowski has struck out 69 batters. She has pitched one shutout, one save and 11 complete games. Utility pitcher Haley Smith was named to the Preseason All-Conference team and has made four appearances with three starts. Smith owns a 2.10 ERA with a 1-1 record.
Black Hills State has registered a 5-35 on the season and 3-29 in RMAC action.
Morgan Smith ties for first on the team with a .311 batting average. In 32 hits with 103 at-bats, Smith has scored 17 runs and seven RBIs.
Lexi Baker joins Smith with a .311 batting average. In 20 games, Baker has tallied 19 hits with four RBIs and eight runs scored. Behind Smith and Baker,
Kindall Bethke holds a .308 batting average. Bethke leads the team with 13 RBIs. She has scored nine runs for the offense and has 33 hits.

Alex Wiley has recorded a 4.79 ERA. In 125.2 innings pitched, Wiley has struck out 64 batters, pitched 15 complete games with two shutouts.
