LAKEWOOD, Colo. – In the final road game of the seaso, the Black Hills State University women's soccer team fell to Colorado Christian University, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon.
Despite recording 13 shots in the first 25 minutes, the Cougars (6-7-3, 5-6-1 RMAC) were unable to get on the board, with the Yellow Jacket (0-15-1, 0-10-1 RMAC) defense able to stand firm. However, in the 28th minute, CCU took a 1-0 lead. Almost immediately, BHSU put some pressure on the Cougars, with Rachel Erickson recording a shot. However, the visitors entered halftime down, 1-0.
Less than 10 minutes into the second half, the Cougars doubled their lead when Stephanie Muchow scored off a corner kick to put CCU up, 2-0. Again, the Yellow Jackets responded with a sustained period of pressure. However, BHSU was unable to convert, and ultimately fell, 2-0.
The Cougars outshot the Yellow Jackets, 26-5. Rose Miller led the Yellow Jackets with three shots, while Holly Burley and Rachel Erickson each tallied a shot. Teagen Hartley (0-5-1) played all 90 minutes in goal, making three saves while allowing two goals.
