Triathlon earns national accolades

SPEARFISH, S.D. – Following the collegiate triathlon season, national awards have been handed out by the College Triathlon Coaches Association. Mathilde Bernard, Katie Christy, and Taylor Lundquist all earned national accolades, while the BHSU team was also honored.

Bernard, a native of Alberta, Canada, earned All-American honors after placing in the top three at the NCAA Championships. The sophomore placed third in Division II, making the podium, and being named an All-American for the second consecutive year.

Bernard, Christy, and Lundquist were all named Academic All-Americans. Student-athletes who competed at the National Championships and maintained a GPA of 3.5 or above earned the accolade. All three Yellow Jackets who raced at the Collegiate National Championships earned Academic All-American honors this year.  

As a team, BHSU was ranked fourth out of all 17 schools who competed at the Championships. The team checked in with a cumulative GPA of 3.729.
