Yellow Jackets travel to Mesa and Western

Spearfish, S.D. - This weekend, the BHSU Volleyball team takes to the road for two away matches, first against Colorado Mesa and Western Colorado. Friday evening, the CMU Mavericks will take on the Yellow Jackets at 7:00 pm in Grand Junction. Then the Jackets will travel to Gunnison Colorado to play the Mountaineers at 6:00 pm.
 
Scouting the Mavericks (10-7, 6-3 RMAC)
CMU is 6-3 in the RMAC conference so far this season and is coming off of a split weekend against Colorado Christian and #16 Regis.
 
The Mavericks lost to #16 Regis University but pulled out a 4 set win against Colorado Christian. On the weekend, Kasie Gilfert and Camille Smith lead the offense for the Mavericks. Gilfert had 14 kills against Colorado Christian and ended the night with a 0.400 hitting percentage. On Saturday night against Regis, Smith lead the way with a 0.600 hitting percentage on 7 kills and only 1 error.
 
Scouting the Mountaineers (8-9, 4-5 RMAC)
The Western Colorado University Mountaineers are also coming off a split weekend of RMAC play. WCU is averaging 11.5 kills and 16.8 digs per set they play. Jordyn Todd leads the Mountaineer offense in kills with 185 on the season so far. For the defense, Myles Hilbert has 214 digs.
 
Scouting the Yellow Jackets (7-10, 5-4 RMAC)
The Yellow Jackets are heading into this weekend off a heartbreaking 5 set match against rivals Chadron State Saturday evening. The Yellow Jackets also fell to Metropolitan State Friday evening.
 
For the Yellow Jackets, Mariah Robinson leads the way with 25 kills on the weekend. Sierra Ward had 20 herself, and Madee Hoopman had 17. Haedyn Rhoades leads the Jacket defense with 307 digs on the season so far.
 
Next Up
After the weekend's travel, the Yellow Jackets will be back in the Donald E. Young Center to take on Adams State and Fort Lewis, October 25th and 26th.
