SPEARFISH, S.D. – Two former Black Hills State University men's basketball players – Fraser Malcolm and Makaleb McInnis – have signed with and are playing on Scottish clubs.
Fraser Malcolm is playing with the Glasgow Rocks in the British Basketball League. The Rocks are 2-1 on the young season.
"We were delighted to bring Fraser to the organization and back to Scotland!" said general manager Lewis Glennie. "He was one of our top priorities this offseason, and we feel he'll be a great fit having played with so many of our team at an International level. We are very excited to see what he can bring to the table for us this year."
Malcolm, a Scottish native, played for BHSU for four seasons, finishing his career with 1,260 total points and 554 total rebounds. He was a three-time All-RMAC player, earning First Team accolades following his senior season. He has played internationally for the Scottish National Team, including as a key part of the team that finished fourth at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Makaleb McInnis signed with the Falkirk Fury. The team, located in Falkirk, Scotland, plays in the Scottish Basketball Championship. The Fury are coming off a 2018-19 in which they were the Scottish Cup winners and have opened the new season with three consecutive victories.
"I have been hugely impressed not only with Makaleb's basketball skills, but as an individual," said head coach John Bunyan. "He has come from a great program at Black Hills State and I am sure he will be a very popular player with the fans."
McInnis played his final two collegiate seasons with BHSU. He averaged over 10.0 points per game and 3.0 rebounds per game, helping the Yellow Jackets to their first two appearances in the RMAC Tournament in school history.
