FB: Eight Named to RMAC Honor Roll as Season Concludes

Spearfish, SD – The Black Hills State University football team had eight members of their squad named to the All-RMAC honorable mention list: Cole Miller, Joseph Morgan, Sam Ambrogio, Bailey Rosenstrauch, Jacob Parks, Payten Gilmore, Josh Gurnaby, and Kielar Harpham. This came on the heels of the Yellow Jackets season finale, were they defeated Azusa Pacific University 19-7.
 
The Yellow Jackets struggled on the road this season. They were unable to snag a win away from Lyle Hare. Breaking even at home (3-3), the Green and Gold posted a 3-8 overall record and finished 2-8 in the RMAC. The team managed to continue a tradition of discipline, averaging the lowest number of penalties for yards in the league. This is the second year in the row they were the least penalized team.
 
Parks had the longest field goal in the RMAC this season with a 52 yarder against Dixie State. He also put up impressive punt numbers. He posted 60 punts for 2431 yards, averaging 40.5 yards a punt. He put 23 of those inside the opponents 20.
 
Harpham posted 60 catches for 729 yards and posted 6 touchdowns. He also recorded one rushing touchdown. Against Western Colorado, he posted a season high 161 receiving yards. In the RMAC, he was the 6th best receiver in terms of yards per game and was fifth best with his all purpose yards.
 
Gilmore lead the offense this season. He carried the ball 182 times for 678 total yards. He rushed for 10 touchdowns. He was versatile and also recorded 17 catches good for 146 yards and two touchdowns. His 62 yard average a game was eighth best in the league.
 
Gurnaby lead the defense with 49 solo tackles, 54 assisted tackles, and 10 pass breakups. He was third in the RMAC for most tackles this season.
 
Rosenstrauch was close behind, finishing 9th in the RMAC with the most amount of tackles. He put up 41 solo tackles and 38 assists. He also helped the Yellow Jackets gain possession of the ball recording two forced fumbles and one interception. He also had two sacks.
 
Miller was solid in stopping the ball. He posted 24 solo tackles and assisted 31. He posted two sacks on the season for a total loss of 18 yards.
 
Moraga and Ambrogio were tough on the offensive line and helped make room for all the scoring this season.
 
The end of the 2019 campaign saw the resignation of head coach John Reiners, who led the program the past eight seasons, posting a career record of 27-60. A national search for the next head football coach is already underway.
