Spearfish, SD – In a much needed win, The Black Hills State University men's basketball team toppled the SDSMT Hardrockers 70-66 in a thrilling second quarter. The Yellow Jackets move to 2-3 on the season and enter RMAC play with a win under their belts.

The Yellow Jackets outscored the Hardrockers 29-25 in the first half which would give them the margin needed to win. In a bitter back and forth battle, the two teams each put up 41 points in the second half.

Tyler Oliver had quite the night. He posted a double-double putting up 21 points and 13 rebounds. All 13 were defensive boards. He made 9 of 15 shots from the field and was good for one three pointer on the night.

The Yellow Jackets shared the scoring as
Stefan Desnica,
Trey Whitley, and
Joel Scott all posted double digits. Desnica had 17 points with six coming from beyond the arc. He also pulled down eight boards. Whitley put up 15 points making 7 of 13 from the field. Scott posted 10 points and three rebounds.

Overall, the team made 28 of 52 buckets posting a 53 percent average. They were good for four of nine from beyond the arc and made 77 percent of their shots from the charity strip.

The Green and Gold don't have much time to rest on their laurels as they host Dakota State University this coming Monday, December second.
