CHADRON, Neb. – The Black Hills State University men's basketball team defeated Chadron State, 77-71, Saturday evening to sweep the season series.
Dez Stoudamire led BHSU (14-9, 13-6 RMAC) with 26 points and three assists.
Stefan Desnica totaled 17 points, while
Tyler Oliver added 14.
In the opening 15 seconds of the game, Dionte Champion went for the layup to give the Eagles (11-14, 9-10 RMAC) a lead over the Yellow Jackets, but was immediately responded by a trey from
Stefan Desnica to put the Green and Gold on top. After eight lead changes, Chadron State used a 9-2 run to lead the Green and Gold, 25-19. With 3:52 left in the first half, a three-pointer for
Fraser Malcolm tied the game up at 29.
Dez Stoudamire sank two free throws to tie the game, 34-34, at the break.
With back-and-forth action in the second half, the Eagles took hold of a 48-41 lead over the Yellow Jackets. BHSU used an 11-5 run to push ahead of Chadron State, ultimately winning, 77-71.
Dionte Champion led the Eagles with 21 points and eight rebounds.
BHSU shot 44.0 percent (22-for-50) from the field, while CSC shot 45.8 percent (27-for-59) from the floor. The Yellow Jackets were 9-for-24 from beyond the arc (37.5 percent), while the Eagles were 8-for-15 for three-pointers (53.3 percent). BHSU shot 66.7 percent from the charity stripe (24-for-36), while Chadron State shot 90.0 percent (9-for-10). The Green and Gold outrebounded the Eagles, 35-30.
The Yellow Jackets will next host their final three games of the regular season, starting off with a rematch against Colorado School of Mines. Game time is slated for 7:30 p.m. on Friday against the Orediggers.
