WBB: Yellow Jackets await Orediggers, Mountain Lions

SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State University women's basketball team prepares for the final stretch of the regular season, starting with a rematch against Colorado School of Mines.  The Yellow Jackets will face the Orediggers on February 22, before taking on UCCS on February 23.  Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. on Friday, and 4 p.m. on Saturday.
 
THE GAME – Colorado School of Mines Orediggers
» The Yellow Jackets and Orediggers meet for the second time this season when they play this weekend.  In the last matchup, Colorado School of Mines defeated the Green and Gold, 67-55, on their home court. 
 
» The Orediggers rank third in the RMAC standings with a 13-6 conference record (16-8 overall), after defeating CSU-Pueblo, 70-54, to continue a six-game win streak.
 
» Colorado School of Mines is led by Denali Pinto with 14.8 points per game, which is fourth in the RMAC.  On defense, Nicole Archambeau brings down 7.9 rebounds per game to rank fifth in conference.  As a team, Colorado School of Mines averages 66.7 ppg, and leads the league with 41.7 rpg.
 
THE GAME – University of Colorado at Colorado Springs Mountain Lions
» The Green and Gold and Mountain Lions will also meet on the court for the second time this season when they play this weekend.  In their last meeting, the Yellow Jackets walked away with a 62-58 victory.
 
» UCCS moved to a 12-7 conference record (13-12 overall), tying them for fourth in the RMAC standings alongside CSU-Pueblo and MSU Denver. 
 
» Chelsea Pearson leads the Mountain Lions with 7.8 points per game, while Madi Gaibler and Jae Ferrin each tally 7.6 ppg.  As a team, UCCS shoots 35.8 percent from beyond the arc, which is third in the RMAC.
 
THE COACHES
» Black Hills State University head coach Mark Nore enters his 17th season with the Yellow Jackets and owns a 300-192 record. He is the all-time wins leader for the Yellow Jacket basketball team.
 
» Brittany Simpson begins her seventh season as Colorado School of Mines head coach.  Simpson was named RMAC Coach of the Year in 2015, while mentoring two First-Team All-RMAC players, and one Honorable Mention.
 
» Lynn Plett returns for his third season year as the head coach at UCCS.  He guided the Mountain Lions to the 2017 RMAC Tournament Championship in 2017, and the third straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
Last Time Out
Black Hills State has a 10-9 RMAC record (14-9 overall), after falling to MSU Denver, 62-50, before defeating Chadron State, 85-57.
 
In the Green and Gold's loss to the Roadrunners, Julia Seamans led with 13 points, while Ashlee Beacom and Racquel Wientjes added nine.
 
Five Yellow Jackets had double-figure scoring in the Yellow Jackets' victory over the Eagles.  Racquel Wientjes led with 19 points, followed by Julia Seamans (15), Morgan Ham (13), Alyssia Martinez (11) and Morgan Koepsell (11).

Mr. 300
On Feb. 16, head coach Mark Nore recorded his 300th vicotry as the Black Hills State women's basketball head coach in the Yellow Jackets 85-57 victory over Chadron State.  Nore is the winningest coach in the program's history.
 
RMAC ALL-Academic
Twelve Black Hills State University women's basketball team members were named to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll. To qualify for the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically, using a year of eligibility, and hold a 3.3 cumulative grade point average.
 
Home Sweet Home
The Yellow Jackets finish the 2018-19 regular season with a three-game home stand, taking on Colorado School of Mines, UCCS and South Dakota Mines.

Julia Seamans has averaged 3.0 assists per game this season.  That totals for 11th in the conference. The senior's assist to turnover ratio of 1.3 is fifth in the RMAC, and 121st in the nation.

Seamans is making 2.5 three-pointers a game to lead the Yellow Jackets, which is third in the conference, and tied for 51st nationally.
 
Pull It Down
Katie Messler leads the Yellow Jackets, averaging 6.5 rebounds per game, which is 13th in the RMAC.
 
Texas Hold 'Em
The Yellow Jackets are allowing just 61.9 points per game this year. That ranks 10th in the RMAC, and 74th nationally.
 
Accuracy Wins
BHSU is seventh in the conference and 123rd nationally in field goal percentage, making 41.1 percent of its shots from the field.
 
Shooters Gunna Shoot
The Green and Gold add a new season high with 35 field goals, in the game agaisnt New Mexico Highlands on Feb. 9.
 
Now Boarding
BHSU totaled a season high 21 offensive and 31 defensive rebounds against New Mexico Highlands, on Jan. 25, for a new season-high of 52 total boards.
