Softball set to welcome Cougars on Senior Day

SPEARFISH, S.D. – After a long awaited two years, the Black Hills State University softball team will have their first home series, on April 19 and 20.  The Yellow Jackets (10-23, 7-18 RMAC) will host Colorado Christian (28-13, 21-7 RMAC) over Easter weekend for their final home series of the season.  First pitch is set at noon for Friday's doubleheader, while Saturday's games are slated at 11 a.m.
 
The Green and Gold will host Parent's Day on Friday, and honor Yellow Jacket parents in between the doubleheader.  Saturday's games will honor the Yellow Jacket seniors.  The series will have a live stream and live stats.
 
Colorado Christian Cougars
CCU ranks third in the RMAC standings with a 21-7 conference record (28-13 overall), after taking three games in their four-game series against Colorado School of Mines. 
 
As a team, the Cougars are fifth in the NCAA II with a .352 team batting average, led by Stephanie Day.  The junior third baseman is hitting .418, which is 73rd nationally.  Day has tallied nine homeruns this season and 12 doubles to add to her .740 slugging percentage. 
 
Kenzie Mattey (15-4) leads on the mound for Colorado Christian with a 1.80 ERA, including three shutouts.  Opponents are batting .236 against the senior pitcher.  The Cougars total a 2.94 ERA, which is fourth in the conference.
 
Last Time Out
The Yellow Jackets moved to a 10-23 overall record (7-18 RMAC), after falling to UCCS in four games.  Juniors Maddie London and Dominique DiManna each tallied their second homer of the season in the series against the Mountain Lions.     
 
At the Plate
Junior Kindall Bethke leads the Yellow Jackets with a .415 batting average, which is ranks fourth in the conference and 82nd nationally.  She has tallied 44 hits and leads BHSU with three triples and a .436 on-base-percentage. 
 
As a team the Green and Gold are batting .278 overall against opponents.   
 
In the Circle
The Yellow Jackets tallied a 6.58 team ERA, led by freshman Crystal Amaral (7-7) with a 4.70 ERA.  Amaral has totaled 84 strikeouts this season, including 29 strikeouts looking which is tied fourth in the conference.
 
Up Next
After the weekend series against CCU, the Green and Gold will travel across the border to go head-to-head with Chadron State for the final conference series of the regular season.  The four-game series will open on Friday, April 26, and conclude on Saturday, April 27.
