BHSU finishes third in RMAC Sportsmanship Cup

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Black Hills State University has finished third in the RMAC Sportsmanship Cup standings, the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced Tuesday morning.

Colorado Christian won the cup for the third consecutive year with 21.94 points. Colorado School of Mines was second (18.89 points), with the Yellow Jackets in third with 15.54 points. South Dakota Mines (14.08 points) and Westminster (13.85 points) rounded out the top five.

Voting for the award is done by institutional Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) team representatives and coaches. Voters consider the conduct of the student-athletes and coaches only. The overall score of each institution was then divided by the number of sports the school sponsors for the average.

The RMAC Sportsmanship Cup is designed to honor the institution which upholds the sportsmanship ideals held by the RMAC and the NCAA. The RMAC strives to promote sportsmanship and ethical conduct in every aspect of intercollegiate athletics. Student-athletes, coaches, administrators, officials, and spectators should act with respect and dignity as to uphold the integrity of themselves, their institutions, the NCAA, and intercollegiate athletics as a whole.

The Green and Gold have been in the top-four of the Sportsmanship Cup standings since joining the RMAC. BHSU won the award in 2015-16, 2013-14, and 2012-13.
