SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State University triathlon team is set to open the 2019 season this weekend at the Southern Hills Triathlon.
The race will be held at Angostura Recreation Area in Hot Springs, S.D. The Saturday morning triathlon will be the first chance for the Yellow Jackets to see competition in 2019, and will provide valuable experience before national qualifying begins.
The Yellow Jackets look to be led by Mathilde Bernard. The junior is a two-time All-American, landing on the podium the last two years at the Collegiate National Championships. Three freshmen will be making their collegiate debuts.
Following the Southern Hills Triathlon, the Yellow Jackets will host the West Regional Qualifier in Belle Fourche, S.D., on September 15.
