BELLE FOURCHE, S.D. – The Black Hills State University triathlon team finished second in Division II at the Collegiate West Regional Qualifier on Sunday morning. With that finish, the team has qualified for the Collegiate National Championships in November.
Mathilde Bernard led the way for the Yellow Jackets. She was the third Division II finisher in 1:08.25.4. Myna Buckley was fifth in 1:11:29.2, and Chelsea Basford was just behind in sixth (1:13:03.8). Hannah Hirschi was the fourth Yellow Jacket finisher in 1:13:44.7, and Kennedy Teeslink finished in 1:26:43.4
Colorado Mesa was the first Division II team, with Mazzy Jackson and Abigail White coming in first and second. Overall, Arizona State University won the triathlon, sweeping the Division I podium. Sundevil Kyla Roy won the race in 1:01:12.4. Northern Vermont University won in Division III.
The Yellow Jackets will next be in action at the USD Invite on September 22. The race will be in Vermillion, S.D.
