Soccer opens RMAC slate of games at home this weekend

SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Black Hills State University soccer team are set to open the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference slate of games, as well as the home schedule, this weekend. The Yellow Jackets welcome Fort Lewis College on September 20, before hosting Adams State University on September 22.

Scouting the Skyhawks (1-2)

Fort Lewis University, located in Durango, Colorado, has opened the season 1-2, falling to Angelo State (3-0) and Eastern New Mexico (1-0), and defeating Midwestern State (3-1). The Skyhawks are scoring 1.0 goals per game while allowing 1.67.

Three different players have scored for FLC – Bailey Webster, Britney Johnson, Skylar Byrnes – while Emma Patron leads the squad with two assists. Goalkeeper Britt Blomso (1-2) plays the majority of minutes, allowing five goals in 225 minutes while making eight saves. She has a save percentage of .615, and a goals against average of 2.0.

Scouting the Grizzlies (2-1)

Adams State University is located in Alamosa, Colorado. They went 2-1 in nonconference play, defeating Western Oregon (1-0) and West Texas A&M (2-1), while falling to Eastern New Mexico (3-0). The Grizzlies score 1.0 goals per game, while allowing 1.33 goals per game.

Jordyn Maes has scored one goal while tallying an assist. Kaylee Uebel has scored the other goal for ASU. Corri Zaiger (2-1) has played all 270 minutes in net, allowing four goals and making 17 saves. Her 5.67 saves per game is second most in the RMAC.

Scouting the Yellow Jackets (0-4)

BHSU has opened the 2019 season with three one-goal losses, including a 1-0 loss to Carroll College most recently. The Yellow Jackets are scoring 0.75 goals per game, and allowing 2.0 goals per game in this year's campaign.

Katie Nielson leads the squad with two goals, while Cait Kelly has also found the net once. Rose Miller has two assists to lead BHSU. Ella Goodman has also chipped in an assist. Teagen Hartley (0-3) has made 17 saves while allowing six goals in net. Dz-Rae Jara (0-1) has allowed two goals while making 13 saves.
