Spearfish, SD – The Black Hills State University women's basketball team easily handled the New Mexico Highlands University Cowgirls 73 – 47. They move to 11-6 on the season and 8-4 in the RMAC.
Highlands kept it close during the first ten minutes of play outscoring the Yellow Jackets 15-14. However, the next three quarters were all Yellow Jackets. In the fourth quarter, the Green and Gold dropped 23 points and held NMHU to just 9 points.
The team was looking to make it big from downtown. They attempted 38 three pointers connecting 34.2 percent of the time. Overall, the team hit 36.4 percent of their field goals and were perfect from the charity stripe. The bench also stepped up tonight posting 20 points.
The Yellow Jackets were led by
Racquel Wientjes who posted a double-double. She posted 22 points shooting 8 for 17 on the night. She also pulled down 14 boards, nine of them defensive.
Ashlee Beacom posted a career high 19 points. She had a huge night hitting five three pointers on seven attempts.
Morgan Ham pulled down seven boards.
The Green and Gold are back in action tomorrow night. They take on CSU- Pueblo at 5:30pm.
