Spearfish, SD -  The Black Hills State University triathlon team has resumed training for the spring season.

Following a team Division II podium finish at the National Championship in November, the Women's Triathlon Team will be focusing their Spring training on two key races.

In March the team will be kicking off their Spring Break with a double header draft-legal triathlon event. The ladies will compete in sprint triathlon races for two consecutive days at the Clermont Draft-Legal Challenge in Clermont, Florida, on March 7^th and 8^th. This elite development event provides a unique opportunity for athletes to learn from their first day of racing and apply changes the next day on the same race course. These races also earn the top three finishers an elite athlete status from USA Triathlon. 
 
On April 19^th the Yellow Jackets will be competing in an Olympic distance event at the Half-Moon Bay Triathlon in Half Moon Bay, California. The Olympic is double the distance that is raced in the collegiate draft legal format.  It is comprised of a 1600 meter swim, 40 Kilometer bike, and 10 Kilometer run. 
 
"Our Spring training offers a little bit of everything for our student athletes; an opportunity to hone their drafting skills as well as build the endurance required for the Olympic Distance race," said head coach Connie Fiest. "They are excited for the challenges and look forward to representing Black Hills State University in two high profile events."
