MBB: Yellow Jackets look to Extend Win Streak Beyond Five

Spearfish, SD –  The Black Hills State University men's basketball team looks to extend their win streak beyond five this weekend as they travel to take on Colorado Christian University at 7:00pm on Friday in Lakewood, CO and Regis University at 5:00pm  Saturday, in Denver, CO. The Yellow Jackets are 8-5 and 5-2 in RMAC play and haven't lost since December seventh.
 
Currently fourth in the RMAC, the Green and Gold are boasting the best shooting percentage from the field (51%) in the league. They are in part led by Joel Scott, who hits 62% of his shots, which is leading the conference and his 17.7 points per game is sixth best in the conference this season. The teams shooting couldn't be done without Tyler Oliver who is pulling down 8.7 boards a game, good for second most in the conference, and averages 4.5 assist a game, which is third most. The team is also posting a 35 percent make rake from beyond the arc and 72 percent free throw rate. They are posting 77 points a game while allowing 71.6.
 
Scouting the Cougars (1-12, 1-6 RMAC)
 
The cougars have had a tough season so far, and are sitting at the bottom of the conference. They last lost last weekend 81-102 against New Mexico Highlands. They are shooting just 26 percent form the field, 34 percent from beyond the arc, and 76 percent at the free throw line. They currently average 72 points a game while allowing 83. #4 Jake Hornick is the leading scorer averaging 13.6 ppg. CCU leads the series 9-3 over the Yellow Jackets and last beat the green and gold 86-83 in Spearfish.
 
Scouting the Rangers (5-8, 3-4 RMAC)
 
Regis (ninth in the conference) dropped both their games last weekend. The rangers are averaging 76.5 points per game shooting 45 percent from the field, 33 percent from the three point line, and 73 percent from the charity stripe. They allow 73 points per game.  The Yellow Jackets will have their hands full as both #11 Toni Rocak and #5 Christian Little are averaging 14.8 points per game. In the last match up with the Yellow Jackets, the Rangers came away with the win 80-65 in Spearfish.
